Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has said he was closely monitoring Tanzania’s general election on October 28, 2020, and praised the peaceful conclusion.
Museveni made the remarks today at the inauguration of President Dr. John Magufuli, where he said one of the things that impressed him was the CCM’s landslide victory in Ilemela and Hai constituencies.
“I was watching the election on Television and I saw one Ilemela mother win by a landslide, I immediately saw Hai and CCM has won, I said now good work has been done by CCM” said Museven
“Some think it is an easy thing, but for Africa to succeed we must remember the issue of political orientation, after independence our leaders were divided, most Africans took the line to be puppets of a few foreign countries led by teacher Nyerere ) and others like Mzee Kaunda and Seretse Khama refused.
“If we had followed the other line of puppets these leaders would not have been here, the whole of South Africa was under colonial rule so forgive me for watching TBC 1 find out how the 2015 elections are going.
“This time I saw it again in Hai and I said heee Hai, even Ilemela these are the states that first announced Newala there I said aah then, now at the end I see looking at the crowd here I see a lot of young people but young people must inherit the position of patriots who preceded them led by Mwalimu Nyerere . ” – He said
