Job Ndugai has been elected Speaker of the 12th National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania.
The election of the Speaker, was held today Tuesday 10 November 2020 in parliament in Dodoma in the First Session, the first Session of the 12th Parliament.
The election meeting was chaired by the interim chairman, William Lukuvi, who is the elected MP for Ismani through the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
Announcing the results of the election, Parliamentary Secretary Stephen Kagaigai said 345 votes were cast, with Ndugai winning by 344 votes with one no, resulting in a 99.7 percent victory.
Following the announcement of the results, Ndugai was sworn in by Parliamentary Secretary Stephen Kagaigai.
