The Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) has failed to nominate Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad to run for the presidency of Zanzibar through the ACT-Wazalendo party following objections.
Thursday 10 September 2020, ZEC I have chosen 16 of the 17 who took the form and return run for the presidency of the islands in the general election to be held on 27 and 28 October 2020.
The Director of Elections, Concrete Faina, said, Seif has failed to be appointed from the two parties DP and Democracy Pay attention to his objections.
He said the objections of the parties are similar and relate to the filling out of Maalim Seif’s inaccurate forms.
The director said that after Maalim Seif responded to the objections, the commission would decide whether to appoint him or not.
Maalim Seif is the only candidate running for office six times out of all 17 candidates who have dared to succeed President Ali Mohamed Shein who is ending his term in accordance with the Constitution
